OSHA 10 and 30 hour Safety Courses FAQ’s

1) Are you OSHA approved?

We were among the first to have been authorized to offer online OSHA courses. We now offer the OSHAcampus 10 and 30 hr online safety courses for Construction and General Industry. Our training does not result in a DOL card. We are not an OSHA approved online provider. OSHA does not approve any providers. OSHA authorizes training providers to offer online 10 and 30 hour outreach training online. However, we offer onsite classroom training for OSHA 10/30 hr Construction Outreach. This onsite training will result in a DOL card upon completion and submittal to OSHA.

2) Is the 10 & 30 hour online safety course OSHA approved?

OSHA does not approve providers and therefore, we are not an OSHA approved training vendor. OSHA only authorizes or accepts training vendors. OSHAcampus 10 and 30 hour safety courses cover both the OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926 standards. Up on completion of the course, you will get an OSHAcampus wallet card which will expire in 3 years. These course do not result in a DOL or OSHA card upon completion.

3) What states is the training valid for?

43 states do not have a mandatory training requirement. For these states, safety education is voluntary and oshacampus certifications are widely accepted. 7 states ( NV, CT, MA, NY, MO, RI, NH) have mandatory OSHA Outreach construction safety training requirements, which vary from state to state. Please read the state requirements for your state or check with your employer or project manager. We recommend that you check with your employer (or the entity requiring you to have training) if you have any doubt about what is required and whether the oshacampus certification meets your desired training needs.

5) Will I get a DOL card in the mail?

If the student elects to take an onsite OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses, then the student will get DOL card in 4-6 weeks. If they are taking the online 10 and 30 hour safety training through OSHAcampus, then the student can get an immediately printable certificate followed by an OSHAcampus wallet card in 1-2 weeks. Remember, the OSHAcampus training will not result in a DOL card.

TOP

6) Is the online course equivalent to classroom courses?

There are some minor differences. The classroom course leads to a DOL card while the online leads to a printable certificate of completion and OSHAcampus wallet card.

TOP

7) I see companies offering the OSHA 10 training for $18-20 per person, why is your pricing higher?

Students need to be wary of offers that seem too good to be true. The major providers have very similar pricing that reflects the significant costs associated with creating and supporting high quality programs.

TOP

8) Where does the DOL card come from? Does it have a photo/ID?

The DOL card comes from the government and has the students name on it, no photo.

TOP

9) Why is online training better than on-site training?

Two words: convenience and self-paced. Many workers are so busy or live in areas where classroom sessions are not practical. Online offers much greater convenience. The self-paced nature of online allows each student to spend more time on the topics they are not familiar with and move more quickly through those that they are.

TOP

10) How do I take an online course?

You select and pay for your course and then you will get login credentials. Once you log in, you click on the course you purchased and start learning. You just click to the next scene whenever you finish the current one.

TOP

11) How many attempts do I get to take the test?

You get 3 attempts for the quizzes as well as the final exam

TOP

12) Can we complete the OSHA 10/30 course straight without any breaks?

No. OSHA limits students to 7.5 hours of training per day so you can remain refreshed during your learning process.

TOP

13) If after March 31, 2012 you are no longer on the OSHA Accepted provider list but plan to offer your Branded Outreach wallet cards will these be acceptable if OSHA does an inspection of a job site, will we be at risk of a fine?

Per OSHA website: http://www.osha.gov/dte/outreach/index.html, "Outreach is a voluntary program and does not meet training requirements for any OSHA standards." So users are in the same position whether they use our program or OSHA's Outreach program or oshacampus certifications.

TOP

14) If I purchased the 10 or 30 Hour course prior to March 31, 2012, how does this conflict with the OSHA standard that the student has 6 months to complete their course?

TOP

Yes, though there will be some professional service charges for the integration. Please check with your provider as to whether OSHA is allowing delivery via 3rd party LMS’s.

TOP

16) Why does it take 4-8 weeks to get my DOL card?

OSHA only allows providers to submit reports every 2 weeks and then takes OSHA up to 4-6 weeks to process and mail the your card. In rare cases there may be additional delays that result in longer wait times.
